Environmental Responsibility

ROMIX is the natural choice for all “environmentally friendly” roadway and surface construction projects. Typical U. S. highway and road construction requires between 2-3 feet of sublayer materials consisting of up to 6 differing grades. The excavation, transportation, processing, and installation of these materials release both natural and fossil fuel-based polluting gases. ROMIX products have been extensively tested and demonstrated to have a minimal carbon footprint from production-to-installation.

ROMIX’s SoilFix product produces no acute or chronic effects when handled under industrial use conditions. The product is totally miscible with water and will progressively dilute if released into waterways. ROMIX has also obtained an environmental certifications from the Government of Australia, whose criteria makes it one of the most difficult national certifications to achieve. For MSDS and a list of certifications see please visit the Certifications page.

Federal and State infrastructure dollars are increasingly more difficult to obtain. ROMIX provides a product solution that while environmentally friendly, also lowers cost (up to 40%) through eliminating typical construction sublayers. By reducing the amount of sublayers SoilFix is able to lessen subgrade mining operations that represent additional pollution and habitat destruction. Additionally, roads constructed using SoilFix are ready to utilize immediately upon compaction. There is no long curing time requirement, thus saving money and limiting potential, pollution time.

ROMIX products provide a longer road life expectancy than the traditional road building processes and we will guarantee it. This means a reduction in costly road repair and maintenance. Again, limiting the pollution originating from road repair activities.

Reduced Environmental Footprint

For environmentally-sensitive projects that seek similarly-responsible products and processes to keep their projects green, ROMIX becomes an easy choice. Appropriate for all road uses, from light to heavy, ROMIX soil stabilizer hardens the existing “in situ” road bed material without the need for importing specialized road base materials. With possible LEED points awarded, ROMIX becomes the obvious choice for green energy projects. Consider the environmental impact of traditional road building (per mile):

  • 6,000+ tons of mined aggregate base rock

  • 300+ truck trips

  • 500+ gallons of gas
